Summer Learning Journey-Week 1-Waka

Task: Write AShort Letter to a friend about how you would feel after moving to a new place On A Waka

Dear Friend,
If I Would Be leaving an old tribe and moving to an un-explored island I Would Be in a Shock And feel Nervous (also terrified). It would be Really hard to adapt such a Environmental change. Also The waka rocking in the ocean would make me kind of nauseous.

  1. Kia Ora Arpit,

My name is Rachel and I am working with Cadence and Jordan on the Summer Learning Journey programme at Papakura Centra School this year. It's great to see that you've posted three blog posts already. Nice work!

I particularly liked this post in which you described how you might feel about moving to New Zealand as one of the original settlers. I, too, would have been pretty scared. It's a huge change to move to a new place, isn't it? I can still remember how I felt when I moved to New Zealand from Canada. I moved here to New Zealand about seven years ago with my family. We actually lived in Papakura for the first year that we were in the country and I have a number of great memories from our year.

Have you lived in Papakura for your entire life? If not, where else have you called home? To date, I have had the opportunity to live in Canada, Japan, England, Switzerland and New Zealand. I am really hoping to work and live in other regions of Europe one day but I am going to wait until my son (Aronui) has finished school. He's in Year 4 so we won't be moving for many years to come!

I hope that you and your family are enjoying your time at home in Papakura this holiday. I'll look forward to reading more of your blog posts over the coming weeks.

    Bye for now!

    Rachel :)
